RSS FEED BLOCK

When I am using three RSS feed blocks the page loads very slow. I know that it will take a bit more time than normal for a page to load when accessing multiple feeds like that, but it seems to be a bit extreme. I have three RSS feeds (in the form of blocks) that I show only on my Front Page. If I show them everywhere (as I would like to do) it makes every page run too slow.

So for now I am showing them only on the front page, and everything else is lightning fast. Any ideas for fixes on this? I would welcome anything...

I have all my feeds on one page. they take far too long to load otherwise.
My host has broken my RSS.. so can't really show you.

Have a look here:

as I try to explain. Also, try Optimising your forum in the Maintenance panel if you never have.
As for feeds being slow to load, thats more likely to be down to the site/s hosting the feed.

Not much TP can do about an external source that is taking long to load I'm afraid.

OK, I have come up with a solution to the problem.

I can set up as many 'scriptblock' blocks as I want and use Java/HTML to pull the RSS feeds down. So I just create new blocks that are scriptblocks and then use this page RSS TO JAVA CODE MADE EASY to get the code I need to pull the feed down. They are lightning fast and do not slow everything down like using the actual RSS FEED BLOCKS do for some reason.

Not sure what the difference is, but this works great. Same solution (showing RSS feed using the blocks) but different way of getting there. Basically something about the actual RSS Feed blocks is just not working for me as they make everything far too slow. But this works fine. Let me know if you have any thoughts or suggestions on this please.

Thats something you need to ask the script author.

Is there anyway to apply a CSS style to a specific block?

IchBin

Only if you create a custom block and do not use the header/title of TP's. You can then make youre own header/title body etc. The next TP will hopefully have more control of this. :)
