Article system question

I'm a new user to TP, and so far it seems really awesome!

Here's my question though.  I'm doing a conversion of a fanfiction/fanart website.  So far everything's going smoothly, except this

I have three main categories of fanfiction, and in those I've got countless stories, some of which have multiple chapters.

Short of having them all in one huge chapter (not feasible) is there any way to do this?  If I post separate articles, is it possible to link them all together?  So far the only thing I've seen is "create a category for every story" but this could get highly messy :|

Is there perhaps anyway to separate an article into pages?

EDIT:  The only other idea I've had so far is wondering if it's possible to have sub-sub categories?

You can not "link" them to gether in the articles, but you can however create a new article for every chapter, and then add the article page to a link"list" (menublock)
The easy way would to just use an simple html based article and att the bottom of etch chapter (article) add a link to the next chapter.

Is it possible to make articles hidden in a category list, but still visible via a direct URL?

No. But TP 1.0 will adress these things directly, by having both infinite deep levels of categories and options to hide categories from normal listings. The listings themselves too can be multiple choice, for example you like to show just titles for a category, while another should show the first article in full, while the rest is shown as icons - for example.

It will also see a "tag" feature, so you can list articles related to each, but placed in unrelated categories.

It sounds like both of these will work very well for me in the future.

In the meantime I suppose I'm going to kluge together a solution using PHP articles and a few more database tables to handle stringing articles together.

Yes..thats about it I am afraid..the work to transform 0.9.8 for thsi is too much at this stage, since TP 1.0 already have changed in several other areas to support these new features, including database structure for articles.
