RSS block - major issues

I posted a while back about an RSS block which was reporting an XML Syntax Error, even though the feed appeared to be absolutely fine. I was unable to resolve that issue, and had to remove the block from my site.

Two other RSS blocks were working just fine, and continued to do so right up until this morning. These are now simply totally blank, and do not even report errors. All 3 of the feeds work perfectly well in every other reader I've tried, so it's unlikely that the issue lies with the feeds themselves.

Absolutely nothing has changed at my end between when the feeds were working, and when they stopped... so I can only assume that there is some kind of bug in the RSS block code.

I'm currently looking at other methods of incorporating the feeds into the site - i.e. 3rd-party code.

This is a real shame, and I hope that something can be done about it soon.

For those interested:

1st feed to fail (with syntax error): http://www.ps3blog.net/feed/

Feeds that failed today: http://blog.us.playstation.com/ and http://threespeech.com/blog/?feed=rss2

I too have all my RSS feeds not working.

It happened a few days ago and G6 suggested that it's my host. I'm in no mood to be talking with my host at this time, our customer relationship with them are a little stretched right now.

Paranoimia

Interesting.

Would your host happen to be Netrillium?

If not, I'd suggest it's unlikely that two hosts would suffer/cause the same issue within days of each other.

Zetan

No, I use a different host. It has nothing to do with me upgrading my site to SMF 1.1.4 as it was working fine until a few days ago.
I posted a question in the team boards, and G6 answered.

If you could contact your host, see what the result is, if they resolve it, I may be inclined to contact mine.
I rely on my feeds a little for news items.

Paranoimia

I've contacted Netrillium to ask what - if anything - has changed at their end.

I'll let you know what they say.

CampCounselor

had a similar problem i had to get the php function enabled.

Right then...

After my initial post here, I also had trouble modifying posts, and putting the forum into Maintenance Mode. So I contacted the host company to ask if anything had changed.

They have disabled a 'security filter' which "can sometimes cause a forbidden or permissions error", and as far as posting and maintenance mode go, everything is now fine.

However, the RSS feeds still aren't working at all. No errors... just completely blank. I'm going to try some 3rd-party code when I get time; if that also doesn't work, it would suggest a hosting problem... however, if it does, it would suggest an RSS block problem. Would you agree?
