What is your url?

http://games dot bhn-tampa dot com

What error message do you get?

It continually requests the FTP information for the site stating that not all of the files have write permissions and/or need to be created.

What version of SMF?

1.1.3

What version of TP?

TP_0983

Which themes are used?

I have Default, Babylon, and Dilber used - however only Dilber is allowed on any/all of the boards.

Do you have other Mods installed?

1.     FlashChat Integration      0.1 Beta [Works perfectly]
2.    TinyPortal                 0.983     [Will not apply]
3.    blinkbbc                  1.0     [Works perfectly]

Do you use another CMS? (Joomla or Mambo?)

No.

Is this a test site?

No.

Any and all assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I have already changed the permissions for all of the listed files to 777.

However I'm not sure that the .zip is capable of being unpacked on the Linux server that I'm using?

Ken.

You may need to do the install manually, it's an easy process and something that's good to learn when you are running & managing a forum.

Okay, I have managed to get it installed - but don't see any sort of way to manage it at all now.

Is there supposed to be a tab or a button anywhere on the site?

I'm not even seeing the block on my "home" section of my forums now....

Link is now: http://games dot bhn-tampa dot com

Ken.

It would make it lots easier if you just post the actual link.

Ken.

First thing you should do is take your forum out of the custom theme 'dilber' and do all of your install work in the SMF Default theme... once everything works correctly in the SMF Default theme you can then start to add custom themes.

It looks like you have the SMF version of your custom theme installed, all of your custom themes MUST be written to work with SMF/TinyPortal now that you have TinyPortal installed.

I downloaded the smf 1.1.3 zipped folder, and copied back over the default theme(s), and then attempted to apply the TinyPortal Mod, and it says that it applies - and asks me to click on the link to reset the forum, at which point I'm back to square one - with no modifications made.

This is so aggravating, I'm making slow progress - but just can't seem to wrap it up....

Edit: Okay, it looks like there are no more issues with permissions, however the actual package installer is not copying the files out of the .zip to the web folder(s). I suppose its time to attempt a manual install.  :tickedoff:

Edit:Okay, looks like the manual install was the way to have it happen. : (
I hope that the themes work.... :-\

Ken.

Stick with it mianosm and you'll get there... takes a little time sometimes but it's worth the effort to learn how to work the files and the more you do it the easier it gets... like anything else.  ;)

Looking at your site and I see that you are still in a custom theme, trust me you'll have lots less grief if you leave it in the SMF Core Default theme until you get all of your install issues resolved.

EDIT: Just checked again and it looks like you are getting closer... Good job!  :)

mianosm, here's a note about themes. (in case you don't know already)

Set your forum to the SMF Core Default theme, and then uninstall the SMF version of any custom themes.

Next go to the download page for the theme that you want.
Make sure to get the correct theme by looking for TP at the end of the theme name on the download page, most download pages will have two links with the 'Download' button being the SMF version and down below that the TP version.

A few themes are designed to work with SMF as well as SMF/TP and for those you must turn on TinyPortal support in your 'Current Theme' settings.

Seems the topic isn't done, but its locked? Since there is nothing in the moderation log I guess that means the OP doesn't want the help anymore.
