No Images with new themes

Hello. I recently installed SMF 1.1.3 and TP 0.9.8.

The default themes that came with SMF work fine... However, if I install a new theme and try to use it, then either the images won't show or it looses all styling and just becomes text. I've tried many different themes but none of them have worked. It's driving me crazy.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

First thing to check is, are you using SMF/TinyPortal enabled themes?

If not here's what to do:
Wrong Theme

Set your forum to the SMF Core Default theme, and then uninstall the SMF version of the custom theme.
Next go to the download page for the theme that you want.
Make sure to get the correct theme by looking for TP at the end of the theme name on the download page, most download pages will have two links with the 'Download' button being the SMF version and down below that the TP version.

A few themes are designed to work with SMF as well as SMF/TP and for those you must turn on TinyPortal support in your 'Current Theme' settings.

I managed to figure out that the problem was because I had hotlink protection activated on my webserver, so the subdomain i added couldn't use images. I added the subdomain to the allow list and the images load now.

hey can you or any1 esle tell me exactly how u dot that since i think i have a same problem, only I see the site(forum) as it is but all others see only text no images so i'd be pleased if some1 can help me with that

I had that same problem on lol a few themes.. I think its beacuse they are either 1) too old, or 2) its not being supported by the tp, and you need to keep tryint the themes out till you can find one that at least works.. Am I right guys??

No, it's not to old, the reason is bad and wrong urls for the images.
Admin/themes and layout settings/ Themes and Settings.
At the bottom of the page you have the correct path and a reset all themes button.
Make sure you are set to use the DEFAULT SMF Core theme when you do this.
