Hello friends,

I found myself in the same situation as biggsy, as I encountered this morning a clearly fraudulent email attempting to use the very prestigious name of TinyPortal.net, possibly to gain credibility.

Then, same as biggsy, I took some time away from my affairs, to share my experience with my fellow forum members, just in case this issue had not yet been dealt with.

Hi, i received an email this morning, spam doesnt bother me but i wondered if you knew about it?

I learned that Zetan locked the thread and directed all readers towards another thread elsewhere. On the redirected thread, I learned that Mr. BLOC, had already dealt with the problem.

It seems it could have been a member from here sending this out, probably by collecting adresses manually. The member is now banned.

I felt positively impressed by Mr. Bloc's choice of words: he says what he needs to say, nothing more, nothing less, period.

Then, out of plain curiosity, I kept on reading the thread as it apparently developed into a somewhat different thing, seemingly not about the Spam Email anymore, but Zetan imposing his "authority" ...

So, I did what I would do on my own site and moved the topics out of the public areas until dealt with... Not that I need to justify myself to you.
It would seem like here he explains why he acts like he owns the site, but then he has to admit that the site isn't actually his own...

Because I'm not an Admin here and do not have any access to the Admin panel

I understand that people who volunteer to do "customer service" here at this forum, all share their time, knowledge and good will, and we may sincerely be thankful to them.

Nevertheless, being authoritarian and rude to people is not usually the best way of achieving good things. Thus I suggest that, in the future, any "disciplinary" actions or messages against our fellow forum members, remains only in the hands of Tiny Portal Sheriff IchBinâ,,¢ or Mr. Bloc.

Zetan

Well, seeing as I am taking all the flak, I will stand up for myself.
In no way do I think I own this site.

I posted a News item, briefly outlining what I had done, and why. I posted the information I had in the Team Boards for Bloc, Or IchBin to deal with, and stated that I had done as such in the topic I posted in the News area.

I then left it up to to the Admin to deal with as it clearly is not my place to do so. I am a Team member here, and I did what I thought was the best interest of the site at the time. Not once was I rude to anybody.

I pointed each post to the News area.

If either Bloc or IchBin feel to need to tell me off for behaving out of line, they can do so.

Thats all I have to say on this issue.

while no one person ( admin or otherwise) can be on here 24 hours a day, we do our best to tend to matters as the arise...

That being said, as this matter has been dealt with, I think it would be best for all it we get back to the real reason this forum is here, and lets not give the spammer anymore energy ( or forum space) than he has already taken....

nuff said....I think it is best to lock this now...
