disable bbc code in shoutbox?

Is there any way to disable bbc code in the shoutbox? I am getting spam shouts using the url= codes.
I'm deleting them one by one as they appear, but it's getting tedious. I would rather disable bbs codes than make it for members only.

AFAIK you will not be able to do that, so you may be stuck with the situation as long as you permit guests to shout.

You might try SMF to see if there is better info/answers there.

I'm not sure how it works, but I think you can remove the doUBBC code from the shoutbox so that it don't parse BBC code. Open up TPortal.php and find this line:

Code Select Expand

$shouts .= doUBBC($myshout);

Change it to this:

Code Select Expand

$shouts .= $myshout;

I really hate spammers, it seems like you can't escape from them sometimes. It's just a shame that because of them we have to look at disabling features that would otherwise be great.
