Just got SMF /TP up and running and I am just realizing how much I don't know,but it is fun. anyway could someone tell me what is wrong with the light grey part of the news block in this forum.It is too wide I think. Thanks.

  I see now it is just in IE.

The image is missing for 'TPmodify.gif'.ÂÃ,  Or the image was saved without transparency.
In IE it gives the red X image placeholder.

in either case, save this one and upload it to your Themes/amber11rc1/images/ folder.

And yes, your news box is a bit to wide. Text area is wider than the header and the other boxes.

Thanks. So that news box will always be that big?

No, it's a bug in the theme, but I do not have a copy of amber theme, I guess it's in the index.template.php from that theme. the width is probably a typo.

this is the news box:

// Show a random news item? (or you could pick one from news_lines...)
if (!empty($settings['enable_news']))
echo '<br /><div style="padding: 2px 5px 2px 20px;" class="titlebg0"><b>News</b></div>
<div class="windowbg02" style="padding: 10px;">
<div style="width: 170px; height: 50px; overflow: auto; padding: 5px;" class="smalltext">', $context['random_news_line'], '</div></div>';

this is the search box:
<div style="margin-top: 20px;">
<div style="padding: 2px 5px 2px 20px;" class="titlebg0"><b>', $txt[182], '</b></div>
<div class="windowbg02" style="padding: 10px;"><input type="text" name="search" value="" style="margin-right: 8px;" />&nbsp;
<input type="submit" name="submit" value="', $txt[182], '" style="margin-top: 5px;width: 8ex;" />&nbsp;
<a href="', $scripturl, '?action=search;advanced">', $txt['smf298'], '</a>
<input type="hidden" name="advanced" value="0" />';

As you can see, the news bow has a fixed width on it. '<div style="width: 170px;'

And the search box and Stats box do not.  I think you can delete the height and width statements, but you should wait for more qualified help.

Looks like you are using the amber theme that is not converted for TinyPortal.

First let me say this. When I get an email notifying me of a reply to this topic and I copy and paste the link it routinely does not work. Not just this time. Not complaining just noting.

ÂÃ,  Well it seems that the tpmodify.gif that I was told to upload got to the server as tp modify.gif withÂÃ,  the space after tp. It had to be renamed. and now it works.

What do you meanÂÃ,  by not converted for Tinyportal. There is a version for 1.1 rc1 right. It seems to be working alright. I of course am not doing so hot with it,but that is something else.

ÂÃ,  I guess the bottom line is ==Is there an amber theme for 1.1rc1? I am not sure now. I only see 2 in the download section. Apollo and Black 22. What am I missing

IchBin

You are using the correct version of Amber (there is only a RC1 version anyway). However, you're using TinyPortal from what I can tell. And that Amber theme your using is meant for only SMF. Not SMF+TinyPortal. Download and try this one instead.

That could  be the reason I am going nuts. :uglystupid2:
