Help with getting articles to show up in article block

Hi, I am a very new simple machines/tiny portal user (always been a vbulletin girl but currently am REALLY liking the tinyportal/simplemachines combo)

anyway... I have a small question I am working on my site here:

and over on the top right hand side I have a block called "articles" but there is nothing in that block.  There were two demo articles that were in there, but when I went to edit them and play with them they disappeared... I have also added a couple of additional articles and those aren't showing up either. 

I did do a search for this problem, but my results turned up nothing (probably because I am too new to this system to even understand what to search for LOL)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks in advance!

A few things must happen in order for an article to display in the sitemap block.

First is the block article turned on and next is it set to show up in the site map.
To get an article to show in the sitemap block do this:
Admin>Tiny Portal>Block Manager>Edit for the sitemap block>Menu Manager> and then add your article to the list as a link. (Add menu item)

If you already have articles written, after you you have create a 'one article' block you will see a dropdown list of the available articles, just choose one and save.

I guess I am confused... I want it to just add the articles to the article block without having to add the links to the article externally.  Is there a way that it just updates its self to do this?

also, I tried the one article block thing, the articles block still is not displaying the articles.  I want both articles that are in the middle of the front page to have links over there in the article thing instead of being full and in the middle.

Is that possible without hacking?

The way that you add articles to the sitemap block is as post in my previous reply:

No, not currently.

Again, the way to do so is as posted above, also the article can be posted to the front page and have a link in the block if you wish, or just have a link in the block but not be on the front page.
One question that we haven't made clear yet... are you running a 'sitemap' block, or some other kind of block? To do as I've suggested it must be a sitemap block.

Actually the part about the articles being on the front page or not is an entirely different question, so maybe we should stick with the sitemap issue until we fix that and then deal with the articles on the front page.

The kind of block it is currently is an article category, and then it says "who article listing from category" and I chose the category that both of the articles are in. 

If that isn't what the article category block is supposed to do, then what should I be using that type of block for?

So, I need to make the block a sitemap block and then hardlink to each of the articles?

Also, when I changed that to a sitemap type it now shows the "downloads" link in two places on my front page.

You can use an article block but that limits you to one article or one category.
You can see examples of both at the link below:
Look all the way down on the left side for the "Article" block, it's set to show a category. it's only there temporally for this question

If you look two blocks above there you'll see another one named "Articles" that is actually a sitemap block and the articles listed there are from several different categories. Both ways work OK, it all comes down to what you are trying to achieve.

On the Downloads being in two places, if you don't need the download link to show then turn it off in the 'modules' panel, if you do need it then check to see if you have a block enabled on both sides of your pages that includes the download link.

Oh that is EXACTLY what I want!  The thing on the bottom left side.  We will only be putting articles into one category, so that is perfect!

For that one you need to set your articlebox to 'article category' under the 'Type' column then click on Save, then go back and select the category you want the links to come from in the drop down menu and set the block to active.
