Help Wanted - Inquire within

My TP performance has gone from God-awful slow to Completely unacceptable.

Fairly large forum, +210,000 posts, +2400 users.
SMF 1.0.5
TP V.0.75

Browsing times (page creation) range from .1 through 50+ seconds. 
Posting times are almost ALWAYS above 4 seconds.

I'm losing users and business...  I need help!

If you are knowledgable in SMF and TP performance tuning, PLEASE let me know.  I can pay for assistance (not a ton, but I can shell out some $$).

So far, I have:
Removed options for checking avatar size at each page load
Moved table maintenance up to a daily frequency
Removed all blocks (just for test - then re-inserted)
Set option for database driven sessions

All with no effect...

Jeff, I just visited your forum and I had absolutely no problem browsing. Have you checked with your host about your issues? It could be a server/bandwidth problem.

Start posting to the site...  Or modify a post...  It gets crazy long for delays.

Right now it's 11:30pm central.  There are only 6 users on the site with virtually no activity.  I modified a post and it took 23 seconds to create the page.

A simple reply to the same post took 6 seconds.

The issue isn't bandwidth.  The problem is very likely server oriented, but I believe that it can be improved immensely.

There are about 10 of us on a dedicated server.  I chew up 90% of the resources.  Basically everyone else uses it for email.

Grrrr... so now after going back and performing 20 or so functions from browsing to posting to modifying, the largest delay I see is 5 seconds for page creation.

10 minutes ago, I had a near 30 second delay in page creation.

My users are complaining about it, and I see it constantly...  I'm not crazy, and I don't know what to do... sigh...

Do you have access to MySQL and stuff? If so, give it a reboot. Might want to try a repair and optimize on your database too. MAKE SURE YOU BACKUP! I just posted/edited and then replied. Each page load took less than 1 sec. I'm not sure what is going on here. Have you posted at SMF? You'll get better help there IMO.

I use the repair/optimize function built into SMF daily.  We also back up the DB daily and keep 7 days worth of backups.

The problem is that I can't tell if any of these "solutions" will work with the software/etc that is on the server, so I need the help of our admins (who are not really as interested in fixing this as I am).

I could probably do/install/run any/all of these fixes, but the last thing I want to do is kill performance even more, or god-forbid, bring the forum down...

Do have anyway to check the load on your server when you're having these problems? IMO, it doesn't sound like an SMF/TP issue. It sounds like server/software issue. Just my $.02 though. Reason I say, is because browsing through your site it seems to be fine, but the minute you go to reply/edit/new topic is when you see the problems. If I were you I would throw the site into maintenance mode at the off peak hours and do some testing with those threads from SMF you just posted.

I agree wholeheartedly.  I just need to get the guys who admin the server to help me with them...  I know enough to be dangerous, and the last thing I want is to pooch my forum.

I don't think there's anything wrong with TP/SMF, but just want to know if there's some optimization which can be done within the database as it seems that writes/edits are when I get the worst response times.

I will proceed with the 3 SMF suggestion threads.

You can check your server status using the staus file below. Hope its OK to post it, came from SMF origonally. Upload it and point your browser at it.
