Child Boards confuse your visitors?

Do "Child Boards" confuse your visitors?

My forums is massive and I wanted to try something to condense it some.

Has anyone had any comments from their members about child boards confusing them?

You could change its name, instead of "child board" call it "Sub board" just go to \Themes\default\languages\index.english.php and look for this line..

Some members don't seem to get it. I think most are getting used to them now.
I think giving them a different name as Les suggested is a good idea. I might even do that myself.

I think maybe Mrgray ment that members get confused because of the amount of childboards.. 

I hear where this is comming from.. if you have a board with many childboards inside and it can be confusing for members that are not used to forums..

i was thinking for a good solution for a board with many childboards.. make the link to the board go to an article insted.. (i have the redirect board mod installed..) and present all the childboards inside in an article like i descrbed in this post: http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?topic=16797.msg138870#msg138870

I think it's a bit late to start changing the title from Child to Sub on my site.
If there is any confusion, it would only add to it as there are plenty references in posts to Child Boards.

Child boards are great if you need to group categories, archives and boards that don't get a lot of use.

Not sure what the Redirect Board mod does.. not seen that one.

It allows you to change a board to go to the url you want it to.. like an article for example.. and instead of showing last post on the board/messageindex.template it shows how many clicked the board/link

So.. my thought was that if you have a board with a trillion childboards in it you could use the mod to point the board to an article where you present these childboards in a more suitable way..

Oh yes.. I remember the post. I guess SMF would be the place to ask for that really.
