Is there any way to use a custom action page to create a board index that only shows one category of boards?  Maybe using an alteration of the code from the boardindex.template.php to only call one category?  I'd like to link to a page where you would be able to see all boards in a single category, rather than all of the categories listed together.  I'm a php newb, so I can't figure out what part of the boardindex code calls the categories.  Any insight would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!!!

I think you're better of asking over at SMF for this type of code.

Let me know if you find the answer for this one because i have been searching for this also !  ::)

If you're wondering what calls the categories, take a read in the comments of the file. It tells you exactly where it starts the code for these.

Yeah but how do you get it to show.. how can i put it.. a boardindex.template only with one category in it ?

There is no category.template.php.. all categories are shown on the boardindex.template.php so i guess you can not create a url/action that would show you only one category and its boards  :o All categories will be shown..

I guess thats why they created the multiple forums mod (i think thats what its called) over at SMF

Thats why they call it customization. What you're asking for isn't something done by any default action what so ever. I'm pointing you in the right direction so you can take a look at the code and try to figure it out. :) Its certainly possible, you just have to play with it for a while. Thats the way I do it anyway.

Thats what is so fun about coding. You get done, and often its time to go to work, instead of go to bed. >:D

The answer on the SMF forum for this question was simple. there's a mod that does it for ya. doh.  :idiot2:
