Extra buttons and left side blocks aren't showing

Hi all,
Here is my dilemma -  The first is that I have double expand buttons.

The second is that when I log in under my username (which is under the admin group), I can't see any of the left side blocks that you see in the above picture.  When I log in under admin username (also under the admin group) I can see them just fine.  I am not sure what I am doing wrong.  Can someone give me a hand?

Thank you!

Open your index.template.php file in the default theme and remove all the duplicate code.

tpruess

Ok, pretend I know nothing about PHP...which of course, is the truth...what code am I looking for exactly?  Does it start with something and end with something?  Or should I just go through the whole page of code and try and find the duplicate parts?

tpruess

I think I got the code thing figured out.... But I am still having problems with the left side blocks not showing up for my username (tpruessner) but they show up for everyone else, including the admin username (they are both in the same admin group)  Here is what I mean.

Oh and how many of those expand/shrink buttons am I supposed to have?

tpruess

I think I have figured out why my blocks aren't showing for me but they are for everyone else.  I think it has to do with the expand/shrink buttons, but I can't seem to get them to work for me.  Can someone please help me out here?

IchBin

You can't click the expand/shrink button? It doesn't work but it works for everyone else?

tpruess

I don't think anyone else has tried clicking the expand/shrink buttons.  I have tried it with both my regular username and the admin username and it doesn't work for either one of them.  I think it must have worked at some point because under my regular username those left side blocks are missing.  But it isn't working now.

Ok, from what I can tell those expand/shrink buttons aren't working. What can I do to fix this?

ETA:  I was looking through my code on my index.template.php and this is what I think is wrong but I am not sure what code I need and what code is duplicate...

Ok, here is what I did and how I fixed this problem, in case anyone else runs across it.

I took the code from this topic and put it in place of the code I already posted.  Now my expand/shrink buttons work perfectly.
