Passing permissions to file manager

I haven't tested this yet, but I figured I'd get some input before trying to build something... the wrong way.    In file manager, I know I can set permissions to membergroups, but I was wondering about further security...

We have a network share with typical permissions based on active directory user groups.  Let's say I have access to Folder A, but not Folder B.

In file manager, if I set the path to go to this folder instead of the default and view the folder list displaying Folder A and Folder B, will I be able to get into Folder B (where I should not be able to access) or will my server permissions override the SMF/TP permissions?  We would like to use the file manager vs. Windows Explorer, but we need to address the security concern(s) first.
