I need help on Center Block alignment.
How can I flush top of center block to left block?
Mine seems to low, I am just curious... :idiot2:

Is it because of the link tree? What theme are you using? Can we have a link to see it for ourselves?

I noticed this thread and was wondering about this same thing....

I am on neptune tp, 1.1, and if you have a look in the picture, you will see the arrows to the cells I am trying to get rid of...
I don't want it in the nested cell area on the first page ( I don't mind it in the forum)
I don't know if cafemoc is using the same thing, but I know I have tried everything in index.template...

Is this something that sits in smfdefault theme and that is why I haven't been able to remove it..?

Hard to tell what's really going on by that picture Maya. However, have you played with the padding or margin settings of the index.template.php file at this code?
        echo '<td width="100%" align="left" valign="top" style="padding-top: 10px; padding-bottom: 10px;">';
        if($context['TPortal']['centerbar'])
                     echo '<div>' , TPortal_sidebar('center') , '</div>';

hey ich,

yeah i have, I have taken it down to zero px, and I can manage to get rid of all but about 4 px... it is almost like there is a buffer there in a hidden cell or something... but its the 'babyblue' i want to oust. :)

btw - the pic is a shot of a 'scriptbox' in the centerblock for a writeup I am doing.. it is on my test site right now to get the layout down... ;)

Sorry to get back late.
I have noticed extra padding right above center block.
It was 4px, I didn't where extra paddings were coming from, so I updated SMF to 1.1 and removed TinyPortal for now.  8)

This is exactly the issue I would like to understand. In order to keep it simple:
TP 0.97
SMF 1.1.2
Default SMF theme.

I like having the navigation link tree, but would certainly prefer to have some sort of top alignment that does not result in the center seemingly lower than right or left blocks.
I've tried searching, but have not found much assistance.

It would seem - that if the nav-link trail was actually in a "use frame from theme" block - all would be well.

Would this be a CSS issue? Any assistance would be appreciated.

thank you

[EDIT]
Everything below this edit, I was ready to post....but then, an easier 100% non hack method occurred to me.
Flexibility of TP is pretty damn wonderful.

Terry's ridiculous easy way to not allow the center portion of your various pages / forums to be 'pushed' down by the nav link tree.

  • Create a center block
  • Title it something....navigation for example

I don't think it matter what kind of block, since it will be empty.

Various looks based on the visual options you choose.
YMMV
[/EDIT]

Added just a pinch of my meager but growing TP knowledge to the wisdom of others here found via Search and I was able to reconfigure my nav link tree to no longer "cause" the top border of the center portion of, for example, the forum to be lower than the side blocks.

If of any interest to others,

I made a center php block.
Put theme_linktree(); into body of block.
Titled it: navigation
Selected: Use frame from theme

I'm sure there are other methods...but to this new user, this seemed pretty noninvasive.
Using this tip from bloc is one way to remove the default link tree
