Hello,

I just manged to install and get a grip of what tinyportal is. Nice work ... grats devs.
Just have one problem maybe i can get some help with ... i am trying to get a right block [recent posts] to display only on the front page. On my display options of the block ... there are all the pages and forum boards just not the home page ... how can i do that?

Thx in advance,

G6Cad

Welcome to tinyportal.

I think you have to give a bit more information about what you want in order for us to give you help.
The posting guide is a great place to start when you first enter a new site and seeking help.

1. Site url is needed so we can see what you have so far
2. What recent topics block are you trying to work with ? The premade in the TP istself or the one from the block code and snippets board ?
3. Where do you want the block to be displayed? Right/Left or Center ?
4. Other mods installed besides TP
5. What theme do you use when you try to get it to show up ?

As you can see there is some questions before we can give a good and straight answer :)

Sorry, i though that was enough ... atm the block is hidden cause i only want it on the front page, don't want to eat up page width in all the other pages. Anyway, here are your answers:

1. http://oed.doryss.eu/
2. The one from TP itseld
3. Right and only on first/home page
4. No, just itemstats
5. WoW-DK

Oh, and btw, is there any way i can get the downloads button off the menu?

only one more question :D
is it possible to open other pages other that those set up as TP/SMF pages? i mean i have a page test.php let's say and i want to display it with the SMF header and the TP blocks on the sides ... actualy it's the other way arround ... to display the page inside the TP/SMF system

G6Cad

Thank you !'

If you want just one block to show on frontpage you have to set up the frontpage to show both articles and frontpage blocks in Admin/TinyPortal/Settings
Also the panels on Admin/TinyPortal/Settings/Panels have to be set up sop you just show the right side.
Then the tricky part is that you HAVE to have atleast ONE article set as featured (first place top) and then when you creat your block you have to set that block to only show when this article is showing.

The download button of the menu in the tools block or in the top menu ?
To remove it from the block you have to dissable it in the Admin/TinyPortal/Modules
If it is in the top menu you have to manually remove the button code from the themes index.template.php file, or simply comment it out with /* buttoncode here*/

If you want to use and open up other pages you have stored on your local server or any other page on the internet, you have to create an articke and use iframe tags.
How to set it up and how to make that happend, you can read in the block code and snippets board. If you do a search in that board you will find a few threads there with all you need to know about iframe :)

Thx for your reply,

The downloads button flew of the menu in an instant, the iframe article still needs documenting, but got one more problem with the front page.

It does indeed work the way you said, but the option is called: Featured article and front page blocks. I had front page blocks before...and had some articles posted there...new ones on top of old ones...if i choose this option...the recent posts block will indeed appear, but only the featured article will show, i need to have them all.

Oh, and sorry for bugging,

LE: one more thing, i figured out the iframe article way of doing it (pretty easy just the html code), but some pages, if u click on links, open in the same iframe (which i want), some if i click on the links open up full page (which i don't want). Any idea what makes the difference between the 2?
