Where is the English language pack? :P

I installed using the package manager, and hardly any text appears! The button to edit an article just shows [] for example, And the Admin section has no links at all!

All tests passed, it said it successfully installed, no errors, and I used a TP theme from this site (Simplicity TP)

Hi and Welcome!! Yes G6 is right, please use our search feature, many questions first time users have, may have already been answered.

The answer to your question tho is when you installed your TP to SMF, TP defaulted to the English-utf8 as the forum's default language. Not all systems are ready for this or do not have the language pack. Why it does this no one knows.

To fix this you can do 1 of 2 things.

1 goto this thread and follow these instructions -

As for not being able to see Tiny Portal menu -

Go to your admin controls

Left hand menu choose - Server Settings

when it shows look down the list for - Default Forum Language

make sure it says English and not English-utf8, if it says English utf8 choose English from the drop down menu and save, this should fix it.

OR goto the thread G6 provided and do what it says if possible for your systems.

The first is the fastest and most likely fix for your problem.

Again WELCOME! and remember - "search button" "search button" "search button" "search button" "search button" "search button" "search button" "search button" "search button" "search button" "search button" "search button" "search button" "search button"

;) :D ;D ::) ^-^

The reason seems to be whether you installed via Fantastico or from a download from SMF.

New Fantastico installs, seems to install UTF8.. at least it did when I installed my test site. When I first installed via Fantastico.. UTF8 was not enabled.

PhilH

Ever wonder why they call it Fantastico? It should be called NotFunFantastico.

OK I have searched all over the forum and cannot find the answer.

SMF Version: 1.1.2
TP Versoin: 0.9.8
Language Pack: English (Non-utf8)
Installed from: SMF Site
Theme: Black22 TP Version (From this site!)

Site: http://www.vanatuscurse.com/

What could be wrong?

Zetan

The language needs to be UTF8 if your site runs UTF8.

This has been asked so many times now.. I might write a guide later and sticky it.
