Hello everybody,

I have been using TP with SMF for quite long now. I love them both.

Now I am having a problem, I think there is a problem. Bloc please check. I am not sure whether this is my fault or other.

Here is what happened....

Yesterday I bought one Hostgator Hosting account and decided to build another new forum....I used Fantastico to build one ready made SMF forum and installed TP 0.9.8 in it.....Now I have a lot of problems here. Most of the texts just vanished. e.g. in the shoutbox the button was there but without any "Shout" text. In the admin Panel there was a TP section without any sub section....Instead there was white space.

I tried this once again with my other host and the same problem occurred.

Now I uploaded SMF 1.1.1 and Upgraded it to SMF 1.1.2 and installed TP 0.9.8 in it and it works 100% fine.

I dont know why this happens...maybe 1.1.2 and TP has some problem.

Bloc please check it.

Anyways Thanks for your contribution towards the SMF community. I thank you for this. Also thumbs up to all the developers associated with SMF who is making the best forum more better. Thank you.

Could be that the server you are on uses the utf8 language when it installs through the predifined package you choose from, and TP uses the ISO standard language.
If you want to try this and see if it works, you can download the utf8 language package from the download section and extract the files to your local PC, then upload them manually to where you have your forum installed.
Make sure the files go to the themes/default/languages folder with the rest of the language files.

I see....Dat may be a very possible reason....

Thanks for the help. Thanks again

Every forum I installed using fantistico installed it with the utf language.  What G6 said is the answer. I have to do this with every forum I install using fantistico.

But Mr. Tick I think otherwise....

I think we need to install without UTF-8 support as I found that enabling that feature is the source of the problem. If we use that UTF the texts are vanishing. maybe it is a Hostgator problem.

A bit confused now.

The SMF FORUM have support for both ISO and utf8 during the install where you can choose to have ISO or utf8.

TP doesent have the same choice. TP installs as ISO no matter what language you have set for the forum during the install.
So IF the forum have uft8 as it's prime language TP doesent know that when you install, and you hav to manually add the uft8 language strings for TP after the installation is done for TP.
Thats why we have the utf8 language strings in the downloadsection here for TP.

There is also a easy quick fix for this - I had it happen on my second forum, installed with Fantastico as well, you go into your admin section, click on Server Settings and change the default forum language to ENGLISH (it should say English-utf8 from the Fantastico install).  ;D

All I was saying is when you use fantastico to install it installs using the  utf.  If you do not want the utf it is just a matter a changing it in your server settings.  a two minute process.  I you do however want to use the utf you have to do as G6 says.
