Hello,
In the Tiny Portal - Front page settings, there is the option of "Articles layout for the front page: A B C D

I really don't see how these actually work.  That is to say that if I choose A or B, then the front page articles and forum messages are posted just in one column, if I choose C or D then the featured article is placed on the left, and the forum posts are placed on the right.  But both C and D does the same thing unless Im just not noticing some fine detail.

What Im trying to do is get the featured article to display on the left, and *all* other articles that are slated for the front page to appear underneath the featured article, then have the forum posts that are slated to appear on the front page in the right hand column of the front page.  But no matter what I do, the featured article shows in the left column at the top, and the right column holds all forum posts with any other articles intermingled and sorted by date.  But I'd like all articles on the left side, and all forum posts on the right column.

Is this doable?

Thanks for your time.

At this time I do not believe that is possible with the settings available now.  There will be a lot more options with the release of 1.0

Okay, thank you for your time.  One other question related to the front page layout.

Is it possible for me to go in somewhere and hack the code so that I can show messages from more categories then is provided.  Like 10 categories or more?  Optimistically, I'd like to be able to use all categories to have posts shown on the front page from them.

Thanks again for your time.

If you do a little bit of search from the forum index. you will see that there are answers on how to accomplish just that :)

The article layouts are much more like "containers that fill up" than separate panels you can assign things to really. Adding more panels is something that will be more explored in later versions. As of now you have left/right/center - with TP 1.0 adding top/bottom panels.

Thanks, but what exactly do the A B C D layouts work like?  I see a difference between two of them.  One of them makes the articles/posts on the home page one column, and one of the options (A B C D) makes the home front page have 2 columns, with the featured article on the left and the rest on the right.

I seem to also remember when I was running RC3 or something like that with the default theme, that I was able to get the two column front page and both columns filled up, whereas now I try and only get the featured article on the left column and everything else on the right column.

I tried finding the posts regarding adding more categories to list on the front page but I failed.

The featured article alwasy fills the first spot, the rest just goes under that. Beware that the routine also require at least the x number of items the layout require to be filled. In most cases be sure you ahve at least 5-6 items showing to see the effect.
