I know that we have covered this many times, but it has never been satisfied fully.
Here is what I have so far.

You can't create a block to change the value for whether or not a block is visible or not in the database because you are altering this from the HD level, which is completely unacceptable.

This has to happen on the Runtime level and so I decided to search the code.

It appears as though the code searches the DB for whether or not the specific block has anything in the field of access2.
If it does, it finds out where it is specific to, and decides whether or not to add it to the list of blocks to display.

Once it has a list of applicable blocks, it cues them up and starts displaying them.

I had originally hoped that the blocks were hidden via Jscript, but this is apparently not the case.

It looks as though I am going to have to add some sort of new field in the DB (access3 probably) and tell it to search there for some place to NOT show the block.

Am I going about this the right way, or have I completely misinterpreted the code?
Any help in finally creating a solution to this problem would be great.

(I am willing to get my hands REALLY dirty on this project, because this is for work and we need a solution. Any coders out there who are willing to work on this with me would be REALLY appreciated.  ;D )

Thanx in advance.

*Starts to get VERY VERY VERY excited.*
Does this truly mean that 1.0 is about to be released?
Does this really truly mean that 1.0 will have this ever so dearly wanted feature?
Does it really?

How soon? ;D

G6Cad

QuoteDoes this truly mean that 1.0 is about to be released?

No it's still a long way before a release, We havent even Aplha tested it yet.
And a timetable when will never be given, more then when it's done

Resident Geek

*Sheds a tear* :'(

Oh. OK.

Curses. I got so excited for a moment there.
...

I could still use some help from some coders though.

Our company is needing this a lot and would like to get it working soon. I'll keep up dating here with what I have in the mean time.

Does anyone have any ideas though on how to achieve this? Does my plan sound good to other coders or is there some outrageous flaw in my plan of attack?

G6Cad

I dont think any of the coders will start figure this out for you as this is more or less avaliable in the next release. Kind of reinveting the wheel all over.
But perhaps one of them have the time to spend on helping you :)

Resident Geek

If it's going to be in the next release...
I'll go see what is involved in Beta Testing.
Thanx Gsixxy.
;D

For your info, the option to "not" show a block in a specific place is already implemented. However, there are going to be a ton of features for TP 1.0 that Bloc has to add before he's going to release a beta to the public. So sit tight and hold on for the ride. :)
