When I go to the site the menubox is always hidden, when I open it and refresh, its hidden again. If I remove the title under block options the block becomes useless as the links are hidden and I can no longer un-hide them.

As this is menu box, and I use it for site navigation to certain articles, how can I make it so its always opened by default?!

Ive checked, double-checked, and then checked few times more all the possible settings and it just isnt there! I have it with each theme.

Just a suggestion.. Clear ALL cookies for your site, and clear the Cache. in FireFox it's: CTRL F5.

I tried what you recommended, no help :(

It works for you?

Zetan

I can see it fine.. though I'm not logged in.
Browser cookies in Firefox (what I use), was my first thought as it's happened to me.. clear cookies and cache and it all works fine again. I often clear cookies as I'm often making changes.

If thats not it, then I suggest looking at what mods you have installed, mainly recent ones.
How long has it been doing this?
Does it do the same for any of your other members?

rand12om

I deleted about all cookies just to make sure, and emptied cache again.

It is open when I am not logged in. Doesnt stay closed though, but thats not very important.
When I log in it its in hidden state, and doesnt stay open what ever I do.

I have no mods other than TP installed, problem only emerged sometime today I think once I had fixed a previous problem with the front page skin.

There isnt any settings to force this block to be at certain state by default? I couldnt find any but just to make sure?

Zetan

Only suggestion is turn the: "Allow block to collapse" option off in the block options.. if that dont work... we'll need to look into it a bit.

It renders the block useless as it shows as collapsed block without any way of forcing it to show the content again.
Basically a collapsed block without the small button that hides the content O.O

Edit: on these forums it remembers perfectly well what I had selected. I collapsed the navig block and went to index, came back, block is still nicely collapsed. Opened it, again it remembers nicely, where is that data stored? In cookies?

What theme are you using (Mesh) but other then that ??
Also a testaccoint for us to see this for our selfs would be good as you have closed the forum for guests.

The problem remains for me what regards the Menublock, others dont seem to have the issue, or only occasionally and refreshes help. When Im logged out it shows as open. When I log in its collapsed, when I refresh page it returns to closed state.

Is there ANY option somewhere for the user to show the block in collapsed state as default state?! I almost remember something like that but I think TP guys can give me certain answer if its a fruit of my own imagination, because I cant find any options for the menublocks default state.

Possibly something messed up with javascript for TP? But then others would have the same issue.

EDIT: I just reinstalled FireFox from scratch. As I logged in to the site the navigation block turns collapsed. I also went through all possible settings one by one.
IE has the exact same effect for me.

There is no option to have a block collapsed by default. I've looked at Look And Layout preferences in Profile, TinyPortal Settings, Theme Settings and individual Block settings. Nothing obvious in any of those places.

What are the options set here:
Admin > Configuration/Server Settings > Feature Configuration > Cookies
There are 2 options there:
  • Enable local storage of cookies
(SSI won't work well with this on.)

  • Use subdomain independent cookies
    (turn off local cookies first!)
Some of my members had problems staying logged in when I switched to subdomain independent cookies, including myself at work.

    Admin > Configuration/Server Settings > Caching
I don't have caching options on my server.

It might not be anything in there, but worth a look.
Only other suggestion is to again check mods, and as a last resort, re-install TP.

[Edit] Have you tried removing the block completely and creating a new menu block? What happens to your other blocks?
They don't all collapse, do they?
