First of all I'll apologise if this is in the wrong place. I know as with all forums someone will want me fried alive if it is - But I'm new and not familiar with the run of things. 

I have a question or 2 about tiny Portal.

A friend of mine directed me here and said someone called Bloc is the Salt of the earth. Ive arrived with little knowledge of what Tiny portal is. I've read the "what is TP" bumff and formed an idea. wanting to take more of a look I headed to the download page expecting to find somewhere to download a file, but was met with several files.

Which is TP ? do I need to download and install them all ?

Once downloaded if I dont like what I see is it easy to uninstall ?

I currently use the default them and don't know anything at all about using the others. Do I need to ?

I know some Html but little PHP - Am I out of my depth in this forum ?

Would some kind soul help me out please ? :up:

Oi! I resemble that remark 

First it is best to start with a squeaky clean install of SMF 1.1.2

Second, only if it isn't 'squeaky clean' uninstall other Mods.

Yes. Just click "uninstall" from the mods page in the SMF admin section.

No. If you're happy with the look of the default theme, then there's no reason to install another one.

No. Most people here don't know php. The few of us that do help the others as needed.

So its not a good idea to apply this to my forum which has about 10 mods applied allready.

Do I uninstall all the mods and then apply TP. Is that whats been said ?

Ive also made some changes to the code (little changes like adding a few extra buttons on the menu) and adding the odd banner add here and there. Do i get rid of these 2 ?

That would probably be a good idea. You might be able to install TP without uninstalling the others first, but you're less likely to have problems if you have a "pure" SMF to install on.

That shouldn't be a problem. If there's a conflict, you'll know when you start to install TP. If you get an error, then remove the code.

If you have made the changes to the index.template, uninstall your mods and then re-upload the unaltered version.

TP is a very large mod and it is best installed into a pristine SMF, if you have 'failed' against files when the Package Manager runs checks and posts a failed, it means that it cannot find the code it needs to find to insert TP code.

It is easier to add bits of code from mods to a TP install than it is to manually add TP to an already modified SMF 1.1.2.
