Hi,why is it when i install any mods it comes up blank in admin and when you set permissions all there is,is square boxes..any ideas please...the mods are okay its just all the text is blank ;)

Mods install the text for those places to language files. If your using a custom theme you'll often not see the text because the text is in the default theme. You'll need to ask the mod authors how to get the text into other themes.

hi! were you able to fnd the answer? i just installed smf and tiny portal and I'm in the dark regarding the settings because I cant see the text.  ::)

Again, look in the install board, and use the search.
Also since this is your first post, i think you could be good off reading the sticky posts in our forum, and also the posting guide including the documentation section.

found it actually. i knew it has something to do with language file something. there were actually about 10 questions like this. and all the answers said to change the language file. only there are no detailed instuction on how to change it. i did it by trial and error. which solved it after a few hours of tinkering.

tp was great!

now if i only can find a theme that I like....

:)

I just installed the latest TP and SMF and am using a TP theme, Mesh, and the Tiny Portal box is blank in the Admin. panel.  Is this a language file problem?  My language would be English so do I have to install an English file?  I noticed blankness on another page too, as in no text shows up.
:-\

If you run your forum on utf-8 language, you need to download the utf-8 language package from the downloads for TP and add the strings to your themes/default/languages folder

Shellius

I got my answer, it was all in changing to regular English from utf8 English.  Simple, but hard to figure out unless someone told me.  I would probably never have found it on my own.

yep. that simple. i downloaded the language files, unzipped and uploaded to my site, deleted the old ones, tried renaming, etc it still wouldnt work.

then i went back to admin, i noticed the language thing on server settings. it wouldnt allow me to change the language so I had to change permissions on settings.php. went back to admin, and changed it to english.

it worked!

whew!
