Hi,

I like TP but when I installed it and set TP to the first page with news... I noticed that the amount of posts in the forum decreased. Then I set in the TP settings that the forum should be the startpage (as before when I havn't got TP). And the amount of posts in the forum increased.
But!
When I set the forum to the first page, the TP side isn't there. I want a News page where I can have the left/right modules... and some articles in the middle. (I don't want the left/right modules in the forum).
In fact I want the same as this site and almost every site who's using TP, a "Home" page, "Forum"... But I want to switch the "Home" with the "Forum". The "Forum" should be the firstpage and the "Home" a newspage.
For example when a user type http://www.tinyportal.co.uk he come to the forum and then in the menu there's a button "News" and when he press that one he come to a newspage which in fact is the Home of this page.

Cordially,
Johan

What do you mean by "the forum posts decrease" ? How does it decrease your forum posts with TP set as your frontpage?

JPDeni

You can create an article for News that also shows the blocks and then link to that article in your menu item.

I don't know. There were less posts/day when the forum index were not the first page.

That could be a possibility. But I also want the "show topics from a certain forum" on that page too. And I don't think it will be possible that way.

Sure it will. You can either put the code into a php article or use a predefined center block that only shows when that article is displayed.

You might even be able to just have an empty article, with no title or borders showing, and create blocks to show what you want and end up having it look like the front page. This is the sort of thing that you can only find out by experimenting.

I don't think that a block that shows topics from a certain forum exist.
But with the php code it should work. But which code do I have to use if I want to show the last 3 topics from a certain forum?

JPDeni

There's so much code out there for displaying topics and posts. See if you can find something that fits what you want. It'll be in the Block Code Snippets board.

If you can't find anything, I can probably figure out what you need, but first you have to tell me what it is. ;) What exactly do you mean by "the last three topics from a certain board"? Is it the most recently added topics or the most recently posted-in topics? And what do you want to show? The title and a link? The whole first post of the topic? The whole last post of the topic? Something else?

joh87swe

It's the most recently added topics of a certain board, the whole first post of the topic.
Thank you very much for your help. I will search in the forum to try to find it.
The thing I want is exactly the same as in the TP settings -> startpage -> Show topics from... and you can define the number of topics and the length. I want the hole length of the topic and only the first post.

JPDeni

Post if you can't find it. I'm not sure whether this exact thing has been posted before. I'll have to think a bit about how to do it.

joh87swe

I have searched for a moment now but without any result. The most things I found was recent topics but which only shows the title of the topic. I want it to show the hole first post of the topic.
