Custom fields with uploaded files?

I love TP.  However, I need to be able to store a few specific pieces of information with each file uploaded.  Currently a title and description are stored.  How difficult would it be to add a customizable way to specify custom fields for the upload?

Very difficult. You'll need to add fields and database storage to it. Someone will have to do this customization for you as Bloc is a bit busy.

The programming I can do.  If I do this, would Bloc be interested in the changes?  Also, if I have questions about some of the internals of TP, would there be someone I could PM with?

If Bloc see your work, and he can relate it to his own thinking in it, and also the saftey (big part of TP ) i think he might be interested

OK.  I actually have about half of it done already, but only for the default theme.  When it's done I'll post a message and let others take a look at it.

I'm a bit stuck here.  Can someone point me to where the function "template_main" is called in the theme files?

template_main() is called in each section of the template files outside of index.tempalet.php. Boardindex, display.template, messageindex etc.

I've finished adding user fields to the upload/download manager.  How do I contact Bloc so I can send the files to him for his consideration?

Just post all the relevant notes, links, and other info that he need to be able to check it out.
