We are using TP and SMF for a software development portal.

We have a board for just listing Bugs.
This acts as both a resource to the developers and as a reference for anyone reporting bugs.
We are in need of a way to create a new column in the thread view for priority of the bug. We normally could just use pics in the icon section, but we also need that for determining whether something is a bug or not.
If we have a high priority bug, we would have a 1 in the priority section, and a picture of a bug for the icon.

Once we have the new column, we would need to have the ability to sort by priority.
Currently we have the forum looking something like this:

We are needing it to look something like this:

The information on the topics is stored in the Sql Database correct?

Is there a simple way of making it store extra information with the topic data for priorities?
Once that is done, it should be a piece of cake to make it sortable by priority.

Any recommendations?

This seems to be board related more then TP related, so i suggest you ask this over at SMF forums instead.
The boards and how to work with them is their support part.

I've posted it up there, but I wanted to post it up here as well, because people seem to answer more readily arnd seem to be a little more willing to help here. (As evidenced by your quick response time) I also had noticed a question similar to this (Alphabetical Sorting) That had been answered here.
If it was a problem then I apologize.

Another possible (maybe better) solution to this might be to have a block that is only visible to the developer, that creates a list from the bug forum, based on priority. How to add the priority data, I'm still not sure.

And again, this is not related to TP, so you have to seek the help you need on Simplemachines.org.
