Whats with the categories thing in TP?

What does the purpose of categpries fucntion in TP serve.I just want my members to log straight into the forums without being hit with a big blank space.

So you can categorize articles. If you want the forums to appear first then you'll have to change the options in your frontpage settings in TPAdmin.

I set it to forums only in TP yet when I click on the home button it comes up no categoties?

Add witch 'Forum board' you want to show, such as General, News, et-ceteras

Categories don't show up anywhere on the frontpage by itself..its meant to show articles within that category by going to index.php?cat=xx.

I will probably add category as an option to show on frontpage, although it might be better to show articles - single/category - in a frontblock, giving more freedom to place things. Currently looking into that.
