When i got home from work today i couldnt logon to my site via front page with TP 9.8

I was able to logon thru the forum index and thats when i knew something went wrong with TP 9.8 install.

I got this on my error log:

Quote2: fopen(http://www.sporttruck.com/rss/nonstandard_rss.xml) [<a href='function.fopen'>function.fopen</a>]: failed to open stream: Connection timed out
File: /home/midwesta/public_html/Sources/TPortal.php
Line: 1544

I used other RSS feeds but no luck.

I turned them all OFF and the site became accessible thru the front page.

Any ideas?

The rss feed is/was probably down. RSS feeds are not really that stable in TP. Until Bloc is able to put more work into RSS feeds (if he chooses to), I would suggest you use a third party RSS feed script to control all your RSS feeds. And then you insert their code into your blocks to display the feed instead of an actualy RSS block.

In other words..... use scripts instead of RSS links?

I've just checked the RSS feeds on my site, all work OK, but I have a seperate function for each feed and open the feeds in articles.

Using articles... thats a good idea!  But my rss blocks worked OK in 9.7 before. I upgraded to 9.8 and now they dont work.  Bummer.

Disable the block with the RSS feed, then enable it again.  It should work.

Check with your host if they have blocked RSS feeds to your account, pretty common for them to just block it and not tell the customers they have.

I have tested the feed on 7 diffrent sites now, and it works both in block rss feed and in an article feed, so eather your host have made som changes, or you have something else installd that blocks the feed.

How do I get an RSS feed? I went to my local new station and went to the RSS section and subscribed and then pasted the link into my rss block on TP and nothing happens?

what am I doing wrong?
