I say scrap the whole thing and start from scratch...But that's just me...

Smartass kid.  :P  :)  (jpg)

Crip, obviously my ignorance or idiocy has led to this.

So, the recovery is . . .??? Something along the lines of a fresh install into a new database, and then get my existing members and content into the new database somehow? (Hopefully?)

This then moves beyond my existing level of experience, knowledge and capability. :o

Hopefully there is an alternative recovery. Or a lot of hand holding for me!

Jpg

Yes you can replace the databases later I believe by changing the prefixes of the tables after restoring your old ones[if you use a different prefix on the second installation].

chriscorreia

Would the first step at this point be to delete the smf_tp_ tables in the existing database and then try to again install TP, to see if that works?

I'm not really sure on how to restore properly. Last time I just opened the database in phpmyadmin and then imported my backup copy. That was wrong?

Nooooo, no deleting without backing up first!!!
And like -> http://www.phpmyadmin.net/documentation/#faq6_5

chriscorreia

I'm backed up, just a bit ago. Both data only and with structure.

Thanks for the link, too!

Jpg

I say leave your current forum and databases alone.

Install a second forum of smf 1.1.2 first on a new mysql database and in a new folder.
And then restore databases on the new forum...if everything is okay then just delete the old one.

chriscorreia

So to restore, I just open the new install db in phpmyadmin and then import the old one?

Anything to do with prefixes and such?

Crip

Anything tp_database, look in Sources/ delete anything TP, & upload New SMF_ones.. look in the Default Theme delete anything TP / languages/folder too.. look in your Forum/root in the packages folder delete the TP_zip file & check/edit the [installed list] make sure no TP shows in there.. check in the backup/folder delete any TP in it..In Admin/Packages uninstall / delete any TP there..

OK..
noow you have a regular SMF Forum with no sign of TP ever beeing there, so now upload TP_zip via package manager and install..it will work this way...
I have become comfortably numb!
