Over at SMF they said that the problem im getting is the tmes. My members continue to get that message that says you have already posted the topic. :/ I havent had the problem myself thoue.

IchBin

You mind posting a link to what you're talking about?

mmeadwolfe

Shure, here is the link:
http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=56934

They said that it was not SMF that caused the "You already posted this post" error message (when it wasent really submited), but it was the Theme that coused it.

IchBin

Not sure what could be causing this. I use the Cerberus theme on my site with absolutely no problems. Maybe try uninstall/reinstall the theme just to make sure. I don't see how the theme could cause this though. Did you try using a different theme for a bit?

mmeadwolfe

The prob is that i dont get the problem :| One of my membres mentioned browsers, is it possible its something on the clients end that does it?

bloc

It can't be the Cerberus theme..it doesn't modify Display.template or Post.template at all. The answer you got is wrong.

TP doesn't touch these things at all either, so this IS smf/server related.

I know simplemachines.org site have actually had these problems right after the moving of server, so it might be something with paths and settings. Though i am unaware of exactly what..I would go through the settings for posts and threads and see if anything seems wrong. The time set for when you can post 2 messages after each other etc..

mmeadwolfe

Alright, thanks. Ill search thru the settings and see if i cant find some thing wrong. Thanks for the help.

my forum seems to have this problem too. it happened to me once while two or three of my members have claimed that it is happening consistently. for instance, they make a post, submit, and they get the error. they type it out again, submit and they get an error again. sometimes it happens up to 5 or 6 times in a row, or indefinitely until they restart their browser or something. it must be a client thing, as these were the only three members who ever had it until that one time i did. i never got the error again.

mmeadwolfe

Thats odd. This makes me want to thik that it does have something to do with the clients. I used to get the problem a lot, but then it just kinda stopped. Is it possibly something in there browser settings? I havent looked through the code to see what it is that checks to see if they have already "submitted the post." Does it only check the time that you posted last?

Moocat

yeah, there is a min amount of time you have to wait between posts... but this happens with single posts, for instance right after i log on, or 5 minutes after my last post. i have the wait time on my site set to something like 2 seconds to avoid double-click posting.
