OK - I installed TP into my test site, and am playing around with the functionality to see how to use it, and how different themes work with it, etc.  I've already come across a glitch.  I posted an article easy as pie. Then I posted a new topic in the forum, to see how it would look - and the portal sandwiched the topics in with the article - so that the newest topic was on top, and the oldest topic on the bottom, and the article in the middle - this is from a top to bottom perspective.

What I want is the article to be top or top right, and to stay put there, and NOT move.  I don't want it to be in a narrow block - I want it to be wide, like an article - a front page story, if you will.  What do I need to do to get the article work right?

Set the article as featured. However, I'm not sure how this works if you have articles and forum posts set as news on your frontpage as I don't think I ever tested that.

OK - I'm so new to this that I don't even know what you're talking about... I don't have to have the forum posts set as anything - I'd like them to be on the front page somehow, but I don't want them up top.  Maybe I can put them in a block somewhere neatly?  (And if so, how?)

Well there are a number of things you can do.

First thing, "featured article" is a setting in the article when you create it that will make the article the "feature" on the frontpage. This will keep the article above all other articles. In order to use this feature I think your frontpage settings have to be set to display articles only. Having articles and posts set as your frontpage will not work this way as it is always putting the latest article or post at the top like news.

You can put a recent topics block as a center block or frontpage block. It all depends on what you want. So until you know exactly what you want thats about all I can give advice on really.

OK - here's the site: http://testsite.windonwater.net

As you can see, I took your advice and changed to articles only - there was already a recent posts box, and converting to a TP theme helped.

The article that I want to be front and center is called "What's it all about" while the article, "Asha! Hope for a Better World" should be in a box... I made the category "Asha" a subcategory of portal features, which DO show up in a box  but this one doesnt.

Essentially what I want is a permanent feature, and then other articles that show up in their respective forums, and some other articles that are also features - but not first.  Does that make sense?
