I am so sick of my users saying they didn't know this or that feature or bit of news because at some time in the past they closed the side panel.

I would like to tweak the code so they can't close any panel!!   I know it could be as simple as making the collapse button invisible, and I would be able to do that with my present knowledge.  Trouble is, loads of people already have the panel collapsed and I would like the application to now ignore that setting and have the panels open anyway.   Well, I don't want them open in places *I* have said not to, like while in the admin screen, but you know what I mean, just ignore the user preferences.

I would like to know just how to hide the collapse button, before anyone starts collapsing it by accident.

The sidebar status is remembered in a cookie, so it may be as simple as tweaking the cookie settings so that the sidebar is always expanded for loading.

The bad news is I don't know how to mess with cookies  :(

Binkles, I sometimes cheat a bit and just make the button transparent using my paint prog :D  Saves messing with the code too much

You can remove or comment out the upshrinks in the index.template.php, and for side boxes or boards, just don't allow that action.

Inge Jones

What will happen to people who already had them upshrunk?

You can reset the theme for all users before you comment them out, that way they will se the blocks again ;)

Admin/Themes and Layout/Reset Options/ set back the themes to their default (have to be done to all the themes in use) :)

Inge Jones

Ah I didn't realise Reset Options was for that!

Umm... I have to admit I didn't think that would work. Does it really? I may have to test this on my site to make sure lol.
