Most likly because you have changed something to the index.template.php file.
Some other mods installed perhaps ? or added a button some time ? Or the fact that you are installing it with some other theme set as your forum default then the SMF Core theme
Please use the search as this have been posted about a coupple of hundred times allready

This is a REAL problem. Not isolated. (Look at the number of posts!) I have tried 3 different computers, 5 browsers and 2 operating systems. The zip file is corrupted or does not contain the correct elements. Now where the 'h' are the directions for manual installation?

IchBin

All the information you need is right in front of you. Look at the top of this board for installation instructions.

The point is the package install does not work for a large number of people - probably due to some minor error. Is anyone looking into it?

It takes hours to manually install - with 100's of points of failure.

Actually, when the instructions are followed:

1. No modifications on an SMF installation (Uninstall all mods. You can reinstall them afterwards. Uninstall all non-package themes. They are useless to you without being the TP version.).

2. Theme MUST be set as SMF Default CORE theme. BE CERTAIN you do NOT forget.

3. Install TP.

4 Install TP THEMES.

5. Reinstall mods.

6. Tweak to your hearts content.

Its flawless.

Does not work with SMF 1.1.2.

I found a helpful thread that suggests chmod EVERYTHING to 777, hand creating 'Packages/temp' and using repair_settings.php afterwards.

This allows TP to upload, but the mod still won't apply.

I have followed the directions explicitly - too many times to count - and always received corrupt file warnings. It will install as advertised into 1.1.1, however.

1.1.2 is the current download from Simple Machines. TP will not install into it - period.

You have to dive into the SMF archives to obtain 1.1.1 and then upgrade to 1.1.2 after TP is installed.
