I have never been to fond of the VW Vr6 engines, they tend to cost a fortune when the plastic slides for the valvechains are through.
I dont know how many Vr6 me father had to repair for people that drove the cars with the knocking sound before they broke totally. 

I like the 8valves engins more, you can get a lot of power out of them pretty easy (especially if you have the PG 1.8 with low compression) a simple 270 Camshaft and a stage one chip will give you almost 200bhp (offcourse with a compressor or a light pressure turbo from a audi 1.8T or similar

I like the compressors better as they give you the power from the start and doesent need to be charged before they set of
I dont know if you have heard of a Swedsih guy called Dahlbäck ?
They have a tuning company specialised in VW, and they have builded a Golf4 with 600-900 bhp
depends on the turbo setup for regular day to day street driving  , and the best thing, i have TRIED it on the bugrun meet here in sweden summer 2005.

I began reading this and thought, heck this is turning bad..and surprise, surprise, the topic transformed into a much friendlier discussion, and G6 transformed into..something no-one would have guessed lol , an expert on cars!

I think we turned this in to something i kind of know from the back of my hand since it is in my blood for generations

Also, we must be able to think diffrently some times, but still be friends with our members if they let us be, and i think sparky33 did just that

I assume the compressor you refer to is what we call a super charger.
