Aunt Clair

Hello I am seeking complete detailed step by step Instruction to install TP on SMF 1.1.2 . I am a complete Newbie .

1. I upgraded to 1.1.2 SMF
2. I downloaded
TP 0.9.7.1 for SMF 1.1.2
http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?topic=13225.0
3. I made the themes directory writable
QuoteTHEMES DIRECTORY WRITABLE  ;
Enter  ADMIN CENTER on your forum .
Click a link for PACKAGES
Click OPTIONS
Locate CLEANUP PERMISSIONS
" This interface allows you to reset the permissions for files throughout your installation, so as to increase security or solve any permission problems you may encounter while installing packages.Change
all file permissions throughout the forum such that:"
Click ALL FILES ARE WRITABLE
Click CHANGE FILES PERMISSIONS
4. I checked for mods that were installed already only the 1.1.2 upgrade in the packages installed and LogModAccountEdits    1.8
I don't know what this does , the member who set up the basic SMF installed that , he is no longer available for consult and he was afraid to add new themes anyway .  Should I uninstall that mod and 1.1.2
and then install TP ? Or is there a simple way to install TP over
the 1.1.2 ?

And can sks tell me in detail the steps to install TP please ?
What do I do next please ?

I was asked to start a new thread by G6 , I think this is the right place .
Quote from: G6â„¢ on February 24, 2007, 07:31:20 PMYou upload the file as is (zip) through your AMF admin panel package managerAdmin/Package manager/Browse to the zip upload and apply and it will install. If you get red lines (errors) DONT continue the install. And please keep the install questions to the install board, if you have more questions about install, eather read the posts in the install board (seems like you did according to your post), But read some more there, and if you get stuck, please start a new thread there and we will help you out.
I am not finding it easy at all and the threads I have read indicate parse errors , blank pages , lost data ,etc . So I want to be careful and do it slowly , deliberately and correctly please .
Quote from: IchBinJust thought I would post the package with an update to the SAME package that is currently released. Again I repeat, THIS IS NOT A NEW VERSION OF TINYPORTAL. This is for those who have troubles with the latest SMF update to 1.1.2. You should be able to use this in your package manager as usual.Upload and install. Its that easy.

OK make sure you are using the default theme
Step 1.

GOTO Admin>>>>>Packages>>>>And Download Packages
This where you will upload the tinyportal package, where it says package to upload browse and find the TP file on your computer tha you downloaded.
Once you hit upload it will take you to another screen after it finishes uploading saying upload complete
There will be a link there that says Apply Mod CLICK IT

After Tinyportal is completely installed your form will say tinyportal installed restart your forum click that link.

then goto the download section here and find a theme that you want to use

:smiley6600: OmG!  ;D Thank you so very very much   :D
It Worked !

Thank you ! Thank you , Thank you !
Thanks StormLrd
Thanks G6
Thanks IchBin

and most of all thank you humanporkrind
WOW are you cool or what ?

Now how do I make sure I pick compatible themes ?

I want Dragon Soul & Phoenix Rising by StormLrd
and vB Dark Blue Tp by  humanporkrind

http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item684
http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item684

I also like azure ,techhead , tropical ,  enterprise , spikey and heavy metal . Should I limit how many choices users have to avoid difficulties now or later ? If the version is up on StormLrd's site which is 1.1.2 & TP .97 does that mean it will work or did StormLrd modify them ? If the themes are on humanporkrinds site at 1.1.1 & Tp.97 is it safe to assume they will work on SMF 1.1.2 also ?

How do I install Dragon Soul  theme  ? That is my fave .

Themes for 1.1 will work on 1.1.2, to install a new theme, download it to your computer then: Go to your admin area and look under Configuration, click on Current Theme, then click on Manage and Install, look towards the bottom of the screen and you will see a button that says browse, click on that and find the Theme that you have downloaded to your desk top and click on it, then click install.

Once it is installed you can select that theme for your forum  :)

Aunt Clair

I installed the Dragon Soul Theme . It looks so brilliant but it is too wide . Do I have to uninstall or can I modify the theme ? Thanx Folks !

StormLrd should be able to give you advise on how you can fix it up, just give him time to see the post or you can post it on his Theme Board  ;)
