RSS feed "fread()" error

New install of TP v0.75, on SMF 1.0.5.  running helios tp theme.  In TP admin I intended to try out a RSS feed, but did things apparently out of order.  I turned on the block before supplying a valid RSS feed url, and now I receive the following error at my forum:

An Error Has Occurred!
2: fread(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource
File: /home/xxxxxx/www/cbrlist.com/htdocs/forum/Sources/TPortal.php
Line: 1034

I have searched and found people with similar problems related to a 'r' or "r" tag in the TPortal.php file, but this is not the problem.

Right now, I can't figure out how/where to manually enter the RSS url, or to shut this box off to do it right.

From the forum GUI, I can't do any administration as it errors out to the error shown above.  I will have to edit the file(s) manually, but I don't know which files to modify or where to do it.

Any help would be appreciated.

you can open up TportalBlocks.tempalte and simply rename "function TPortal_rss()" to "function TPortal_none()". Then the rss block will not render and you can delete/adjust the block again in TPadmin.

Remember to rename back once you want rss blocks to work again.

Thanks Bloc, I'll try it tonight.

Ultimately, I want the block to use RSS.  I just performed the sequence wrong by turning the block on for RSS without having an URL input.

Not sure if you have this tagged as a bug to fix in future releases, but that's a real GOTCHA because once you do it, you can't change themes, or do any administration through the GUI.

Its on top of my list: display the forum without any blocks, giving you the option to correct any mistakes. Basically just adding "noblocks" to the query, like "index.php?action=forum;noblocks"

I had RSS working fine for weeks but then something in the feed must have made it go crazy today.

The RSS block was on the left and I couldn't get GUI access to anything.

Was able to go into phpmyAdmin and edit TPortal_Blocks to remove the RSS feed and the GUI came back.

The log was filled with a few pages of these:

Perhaps having RSS blocks on the left is not a good idea at the moment?

No.

For this reason and many others I have already added a option to show the site without any blocks by simplay adding ;noblocks to the adress. it will only work for admin though, since thats the one that will have any real use for it.
