Can we edit meta tag and keyword of the forum? it will really help to know how to do that. Please help.

thanks,
anette.

IchBin

You edit them in the index.template.php file of your theme.

this may sound a stupid question but how can I edit it? I mean which line should I edit?

thanks.

IchBin

If you look in the file I just mentioned you will find the meta tag lines.

Find this line and add in as many words you like, but it wont make much differences as most searchengins have improved a lot, so they will use the bots to crawl every topic and word in them anyway.

<meta name="keywords" content="PHP, MySQL, bulletin, board, free, open, source, smf, simple, machines, forum" />

I was changing my keyword when I find this code:
<meta name="robots" content="noindex" />', '

Why there is "noindex", I think "all" is better for search engine!

G6Cad

Why mess with things thats set like that for a reason.
I have about 50 to 100 bots crawling my forum every day and i havent made a single edit in the meta tags or anywhere else.
So leave it be and let the searchengines do their job !  ;)

curiosity!
However that metatag is showed in none of my pages, so I guess somewhere in the code this meta is being edited
