Hello,

If I delete an article from TP, is there any way I could reuse that article number.

It seems that deleted article numbers are not reused and new ones issues sequential.

I have deleted several articles and now my error logs are full of error messages where search engines like Google and MSN are trying to index that non existent article.
I have tried to create a new article category called deletedarticles and tried to create articles with the same number so Google can still get a page back even though it's will be a simple message like "Article Deleted" instead of the current Error message and subsequent entry in the error log but my new articles are always assigned new article numbers which then make this process silly.

I don't want to have to start editing the MySQL manually to change the article numbers but if so could someone explain where I need to change and in how many tables.

I hope you understand my question.

You would have to manually edit that in mysql, or create a script to do it for you..
A script would need to grab all the current arcticle page #'s save the info, and then change all the #'s to fill in the missing ones that you've deleted, which in the end would just create more missing page #'s because the higher numbers would get shifted down to fill the ones you've deleted..

I doubt anyone has made anything for this yes but wont hurt to ask, maybe someone will...

Also the instances your getting from google and other search engines hitting the deleted pages, will die out over time, will take several months tho.
