Some TP errors I cannot understand

Could someone explain these errors for me please.

They are all being generated by one memberand this error is not being generated by anyone else, so I'd like to work this one backwards and if my member has a problem let them know about it.

These are the errors, all "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again." and all produced by collapsing or uncollapsing the sidebar or the head.

Hm, the link seems faulty for some reason..this part

should be

...val=1;sesc=1167510442703

What theme is the member using? It might be a typo in the theme code.

She uses a modified copy of the default theme, I have changed the header where the site name and logo appear.

I have attached a copy of the index.template

Was this problem ever resolved?  I am getting this same error on a site that I set up for a friend.  He is using the default theme also with smf 1.1.2 and tp .98  .  the only thing that was done to the site is like the one above where the header and the logo changed that to a different one.  this error occurs when using the shoutbox

Its really weird it happens sometimes when I use the shoutbox on a friends site.  It says   Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again.  Then I go back in a little while and it works fine.  I saw in the error log that it happened when someone was logging out.  I wish I knew what was causing it.

This happens with one particular member of mine too. The forum is running SMF 1.1.3 and TP 0.9.8.

The member experiencing this problem uses Internet Explorer 7 on a Windows XP machine.

I think the referring URL error is the result of the user not using the same URL that SMF has set in its settings. If you're server URL is set to http://www.yourdomain.com/forum/ and the user is using http://yourdomain.com (without the www), you will often receive this error.

IchBin can I PM you with an issue I have with a lot of errors from the same 3 ip's.  I was wondering if you could go in and see if you can tell me what is happening.  It started 3 days ago and I almost feel like I have been hacked or an attempt is being made.  I deleted the first 7 pages I got 3 days ago then I got 5 more pages the next day so I banned them to see what happened and got 15 pages of them trying to get in today. A few of the errors have Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again. like above but it looks like they are trying to modify my topics when that error occurs and they are a guest.
