First off... many thanks to the fine folks who spend so much time and energy on making this Tiny Portal action work.  I'm fairly new at this and was moving along swell until I hit a minor road block. ( I hope it's minor)

Ok here's the link for the forum, it's a specific one created for testing so I can duplicate, etc. for my band site.

http://www.synikalproductions.com/test-forum/index.php

I installed all from scratch, from the 1.1.1 to the brand new TP for 1.1.1.  ( had troubles just the other week with this... thx for the mod!)

Anyways, I get the "test successful" read out when installing from the admin panel.

Problem - When I click the "install now" after all that, I get a plain white page, lower left of the browser (Mozilla) says "done" and the link in the address bar says the following - http://www.synikalproductions.com/test-forum/index.php?action=packages;sa=install2;package=TP_0971.zip

I believe I had set all the file permissions up (through the forum) to allow writing.  I searched this forum for the possible answer but am unable to find it, I think this is somewhat unique atm, imho.  No mods or themes installed.

Any help is greatly appreciated, I hope I posted this in the proper spot!    :-\

If you want I can set up a dummy admin for testing.

EDIT - Added image of the screen when this occurs...

Also, not to be a pain but when I saw this... I click that very first link in his text I get the "You do not have permission" message, despite being logged in.

QuoteManual install package from the downloadsection.
Extract the files from it on your local machine.
Upload all the files from it to your forum with FTP or Cpanel.
Then download this zip file with the premade files for the manuall install package and extrac it to your local computer and upload them to. Overwrite the old ones (make sure the DO get overwritten).

Final step is to point your browser to the manuall DB install file for the DB installation.

Refresh the site and you should have TP installd.

Are you certain that you have the default theme selected when you install Tiny Portal?

kronie

Yes I double checked that just to be sure...and just to be even more I just confirmed that SMF Default Theme - Core is being used.

I'm trying the manual install now, I just don't know if I'm doing that right.  There was 1 zip file with the main files I'm uploading via FTP right now...

Then there's the DB file... at what point during install does that come in and do I just drop it on the forum name in my public html? (ala Smart FTP? )

Sorry if this stuff's been covered, I've been doing a lot of reading though!   :(  Thanks for replying!   8)

In this order. Upload files from "files only" package. Drop the manual_tp_install.php file in your forum directory. Point your browser to it, it will install/update the database for TP. Then you have two choices:
1. You can modify each file yourself for the lines of code that TP requires manually with your favorite editor. The instructions for that is found in the package called Modifications.html or something like that.
2. Or you can use the pre-moded files in the installation board that G6 has been nice enough to make for you. Using these will overwrite any mods that you have installed besides TP though.

kronie

Thanks.  I think I sufficiently screwed things up for the night, gotta hit the sack but this was the end result....

I used the pre-modded files that were posted.  After I directed my browser to the /manual_tp_install.php I got the 404 Not Found error.

When I try going to the home page of the forum, I get - "Table 'synikalp_drive2.smf_tp_settings' doesn't exist"

I'm using Ipower, and I swear there's something wron w/ the server I'm on, not that that's necessarily the issue here, just some back ground.

I'll just have to start from scratch again I guess.

kronie

I'm starting over, made a brand new data base and forum.  I need this kind of practice anyways,  I'm a super noob at this.... so we'll see what happens.

I hope my last post wasn't misconstrued as a "thanks for screwing things up!" comment off the bat, it was all just run together.  :)
