Download manager. When?

I come up with a new query.
I use MAMBO CMS for the Download manager (until TP DM is published ) and I have a huge number of files uploaded by many different users.
Will TP DM "understand" which file was uploaded by whom?
For obvious reasons I don't want this kind of info to be loosed.

Not directly no...it will of course be written just for TP itself.

But I am looking at adding a "import" feature to the admin section, that will read a folder and ask if you like to caegorize them. A tool to import from Mambos databse what file is uploaded by whom, should not be impossible to construct then - working in tandem with the import feature.

When the module is more or less ready for action, ask me again.

any recent news about the Download manager??

I have not heard a word. No news is good news? It's December, and I think Bloc is a bit busy with Family/Themes/TP.

Getting nearer...been struggling with upload feature, but it works now, along with downloads/catgories/permissions. Working on the admin part. Once that is done, I am putting together a test-release + putting it into use here at this site.

What I have now:

- categories/sub-categores, infinite levels.
   - name
   - access (membergroup based)
   - optionable icon for category
   - description

- files
   - name
   - access is controlled by category
   - downloaded x times
   - description

- admin section: upload types, membergroups allowed, max size.

There will be a extra button on the menu called "downloads" that take you to the download section, where categories will show depending on access( if you try it anyway, it will give error). Additional links will appear in there for 1.) admin section 2.) upload screen(for those that are allowed to upload).

I just want to make sure that I am understanding this correctly. The download manager will allow me to create different download categories, and to limit access to each different category based upon a set of permissions, that is linked directly to the various membergroups.

So, I could have dowloads separated into the following:

• Free Downloads
• Gold Member Downloads

And then make so that everybody can see and access the Free Downloads, but only those who belong to the Gold Member membergroup can see and access the downloads in the Gold Member section.

Is this correct? (I am really really hoping so!!!)
