I wanted to setup a hidden board for my moderators to use and discuss the board. However, it will not let me add a board and make it viewable to moderator. That membergroup doesn't show up for permissions.

You assign moderators to a board, they then will have access. You could just create a secondary group and add all of them to that group. Then give the secondary group access to that board. Moderators aren't really a public group.

if I set up a secondary group with mod privs, will they be able to mod the entire board or just assigned boards like the regular moderators?

The thing is that the 'position' of moderator is an attribute of a BOARD, not the attribute of a user. Making somebody a board moderator doesn't really put them into a specific membergroup (well, it puts them in virtual membergroup #3 but ONLY within the board they moderate).

So if you want to do something with them as a group (like make a board accessible to them - and maybe Admins/Global moderators, which ARE real membergroups), you have to assign them to a 'real' group for that prupose.

The privileges spoken of for this new group would only be to allow access to this 'team' board. It shouldn't add or deny any permissions (unless you specifically want them to have such).
