Some of my members are having issues when trying to PM. It is asking them to enter a verification number to send. Similar to the registration and I dont have anything comparable to that installed on my forum. The verification code does show and a bar advising them to click to listn is there and nothing seems to remove it.

there is an option in ur admin panel somewhere to disable if i remember correctly

also u may want to try harzems visual verification mod instead, its petty cool

Nokonium

It is an antispam measure to stop spamming, or at least make it difficult, to spam via PM's.

TolerancE

but its not asking me or anyone else to enter any verification, and I dont see anything in the admin panel. Quite odd, I tell you. ;)

TolerancE

Or is this something that just pops up after someone PMs too many times in a row?

Lesmond

you can turn it off in Admin > Registration > Settings > Disable the use of the visual verification on registration:
Make sure that its checked.

Features and Otions -> Basic features.

Down at the bottom:
---------------------------
Maximum number of recipients allowed in a personal message.
(0 for no limit, admins are exempt)

Post count under which users must enter code when sending personal messages.
(0 for no limit, admins are exempt)

Number of personal messages a user may send in an hour.
---------------------------

You probably have a non-zero number in that second part. You're over the threshold and the users being prompted are under it.

Thats it! Thank you very much. Is this a new feature with SMF 1.1.1? Never had this problem before.

jacortina

I'm not sure right now if it was 1.1 or 1.1.1, but it IS new.

And, of course, with Admins being exempt, it's one of those things that you, as an Admin, will never encounter directly.
