I realize this has nothing to do with Tiny Portal, but you guys are so savy and quick to respond, I figured, why not here?  Some friends and I are putting on an art event that we'd like to stream live to the folks who can't make it.  I've looked into scripts like Darwin for live streaming, only to find out that my host doesn't support live video feeds.  So that leaves me to search for a temporary solution.  Do you guys know of any affordable streaming services? Or simply some insight or experience into live video streaming..

I don't think this will be a huge traffic event.   It's a one day art show with 4 or more live bands and some fire dancers...  Should be fun..

If you check the 'block code snippets'  board here. http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?board=46.0

You might also want to check 'mods and packages' section at SMF,

Either way, there will probably be something to help you with this... ;)

Hope this helps

Good places to look.  Maybe I'm missing something, but I haven't seen anything for Live streaming video.

check with ur host - sometimes they offer streaming packages in their servers

like mine comes with one by default of all level packages

I'll have to call in person to find more info, via email they said they didn't allow installation of live streaming server scripts like Darwin.  They do allow streaming video files.  Embedded files for instance, but not live broadcasts of the action as things happen.

I'll look around, do you know if your host supports Live Streams?  In the worst case I can just record the event and post afterwards..

Thanks for the insight!

ive never tried the 'streaming' option in my control panel
but one of the guys I know who is also with them was using it to run a live radio station - so im guesing it can also be used for live video

but i really dont know too much about 'it

Very cool.  Maybe I should look into other hosts.  I'd hate to have to move my site, but maybe for this event we could set up a separate host.  It doesn't have to be attached to the forum...  Who do you guys use?

I found several possible solutions for those that don't want to host their own "Live" Streaming Server:

For OSX try EvoCam 3.6 Where you can stream from your cam to their server, then embed a link in your page.

For XP, the EvoCam people suggest in their FAQ

Has anyone else set up live webcams for their sites?
