Members group

Hi,

I was trying to create another membergroup for those who can submit articles. I found out that the various membergroup works together in "AND" logic rather "OR" logic.

Example.

- registered user has the priviledge of view all the TP block
- New group "article writer" created for allowing users to submit articles
- Now a user with "registered user" + "article writer" unable to view all TP block on portal

Any remedy on that?

Membergroups are an SMF function and blocks & articles are a TP function. When you install TP it looks at your SMF membergroups and adds its own functions to them.

If you then add a membergroup after installing TP essentially you are working backwards and will need to go through all TP permissions in admin, blocks D/L manager etc and check or not the new membergroup.

It is better to add your membergroups before you install TP or any other mod that requires permissions to be set.

How do I know this? I've done it myselfÃ,

Block permissions do work as an "OR", however the problem is that once a person has been assigned a primary group, they are no longer in the "Regular Members" group.

- Nokonium, dont think that's a good way to solve the issue

I understand that this is not really a bug. Like what eld say, once the member re-assigned the primary group, one has to go to the various block and enable the viewing/permission. If i got 10 blocks in the front page, i need to click 10 times. Also, if i created another group....hmmm.. :buck2:

What would be good is for the edit group page to have a list of blocks (like it has for boards) that you can tick for them to have access to.

Hi im new here.. could you explain where can i find the tinyportal permission to show those blocks

Go to manage blocks in your admin panel.  This will be in the tiny portal section .  To the right side of each of the blocks  you will see a little icon for edit.  Each blocks permissions can be edited there for which member groups you would like to be seen.
