Shoutbox auto-refresh?

I don't know if this is a problem I am having or the way the shoutbox is built
Is the shoutbox block supposed to show a new message every time one is entered, as with an instant message program? Or is it supposed to only show a new message when you refresh the page?

TP Shoutboxes do not auto refresh. They update each the page is refreshed. There are others out there that can be added that auto refresh.
