Live webcam

Hi I'am using tiny portal v0.9.5 and SMF 1.1 RC3. Is there a way that I can add a live web cam to my site.

I finally got this up and running.  I took awhile, but it's working.  Unfortunately, I can't put the code in a center block or article.  It only seems to work as a stand-alone web page.

First I got the camera.  It is a Linksys Wireless-G Internet Video Camera - WVC54GC link

What's cool about this camera is that it does not have to been attached to your PC and your PC doesn't have to be on after you configure it.  Afterwards, just plug it to any outlet and it picks up your settings from your wireless router.  You do have to open a port for internet access.

The camera includes a trial service to their 3rd party server called Sololink - link. 

Instead of paying for this service after the trial, which is like $19 year, you're better off getting a free DNS service through DynDNS.com - here.  These services convert your public IP address into to a URL.

Once you're done with the configuration, then you can share your Sololink or DynDNS link with family, friends, or your forum.  You can set it so all can view or create user names and passwords.  There's also motion detection that captures video, then sends you an email notification with the video clip.

The instructions could be better.  I got more help from the Linksys forum than the instructions that the camera came with.

I would like to show webcam photos in a block. Is it possible? Is there a script available?

You'd have to setup your webcam to upload the photos to a place where you can display the images. Preferably on your site. Once you find out how to do that, we can help you put it in a block.

This sounds like something that would be forbinned on a shared hosting environment. Also this would require a considerable upload transfer rate from your ISP to stream video. Still images would be more manageable if you find the proper software to do so.

I plan to use VisionGS PE (http://www.visiongs.de) to upload the photos to the web server.

I just want to show every 10 seconds, or every minute or every 10 Minutes a new webcam photo.

I haven't seen any times scripts. If you can find one let me know and I'll take a quick look at it. We already have some in the code snippets that will load a random image every page load if you'd like to use one of them. But if you want a times script you'll have to find it first.
