I remember a while back that someone posted a way to fool the package manager when you are trying to install packages that will work fine on the version you use but haven't been updated yet...

Anyway... Does anyone remember that and know what the code is to do that ?

akulion

open the package-info.xml file , which u will find in the package ZIP folder

in there find the lines Install for XXXXX and Uninstall for XXXXX

where XXXXX is the version numbers and just put a 1.1 there instead for example if there is 1.1 RC3

hope that helps

Well thats editing the files way which does work but I am looking for the trick to edit the URL in my link bar.

See I changed my SMF version for some unknown reason that I can't seem to think of or even justify at this point. And now I want to un-install a package from my package manager. BUT since the versions do no match up I cannot un-install... :'(

So I tried editing the version back to the correct one. Then all I get is "This forum is ILLEGAL!! Call the web police!!". So I am in a bit of a pickle.

akulion

i cant remember the exact command but it was something like put emulate=1.1; or something in the addressbar

look in SMF for it - cos I remember reading it there in either the 1.1 release thread or the webinstaller thread best to my memory

;emulate_version=1.1-RC3 or ;emulate_version=1.1 I think will work. It possibly might be version_emulate but I don't think it is.

If you wish to use 1.1 RC2 mods (they won't all work), add
;version_emulate=1.1-RC2
To your url when in the package manager
