MySQL sevrer has gone away on install of 0.9.7

I am trying to instal 0.9.7 on my new SMF 1.1 forum. I am geting this error trying to install from package manager.

Database Error: MySQL server has gone away
File: /home/womensfo/public_html/smf/Sources/Subs-Package.php
Line: 2009

Does anyone have any idea what this might be ? I have tried redownloading the 0.9.7 update and reuploading it and still the same error. My forum is working fine so I am puzzled why it is thinking that the MySQL server is not there....

check settings.php...make sure the passwords and database name are all in order...

Thanks for the reply...Everything in settings.php appears to be in order and the forum seems to be working normally as I can make posts etc so it would seem to be accessing the database okay in that regard....

I think there is a problem with the update mod, try the manual install, or uninstall any previous TP versions...

[edit] or wait till they sort it out...I pointed out a 'serious' problem, but they refused to acknowledge it...

I have now managed to make this work so it may have been a temporary MySQL glitch perhaps....

In the back end I have nothing under the TinyPortal section of the Admin menu though ?

Thanks for your reply again.....I now have a lot of blank sections on my front page and can't see a link to the actual forum itself anywhere....Does anyone know what this might be ?

try going to themes and settings in admin cp...and click on "attempt to repair" or whatever it is...

Witte, just to give a notice.
Since Friday i have updated 11 sites, both testsites, and fully working live sites from Tp V.096Beta. All of them have installed correctly from the package manager with out any errors what so ever. All sites from diffrent locations, diffrent hosts in diffrent locations and bot with UTF8 language and "normal".
The installer works perfect through the manager.
Obvious there is some sites that encounter duplicate code for some reasons, and that code ads to one file only "Load.php" and are pretty easy to remove and refresh the forum.
I have posted about this issue in the Amdin board, and when Bloc reads it, i know he will look at it.

What i would like to know if you updated the SMF through the Webinstaller before you installed TP. There seem to be a connection to the webinstaller from SMF site and the issues with the upgrade of TP, but nothing clear yet.

What it is, if you look at the mod code itself, it just has a "before" "add" call....much of the code in 0.9.7 is the same as 0.9.6, if you check the files that were updated, you will find the code twice, I guarentee you...;-)

unless you uninstall 0.9.6 first of course...
